If you're thinking about getting this game I highly recommend not getting it if it's your first Monster Hunter game since the language barrier will be too strong. On the other hand, if you're a seasoned hunter and have played some of the other games then go ahead and buy it!
It's difficult not feeling at home with these games since the icons barely change! With very little effort you'll know what items are required to complete a certain quest or which monster you're about to slay! Also, the item combinations are usually the same and you'll have no trouble crafting Mega-Potions or Traps.
Also, you can always go the Monster Hunter XX Wiki to know which Village Quests and Hub Quests need to be completed so you can advance in the game. Also, Kiranico has almost every aspect of the game translated, from items, quests, weapons, etc... If you feel lost Kiranico is your place to go!
But what about the game's story? There's no way you can understand it if you don't know an ounce of Japanese... Well, this is something that you don't need to worry about. All you need to know is that there are a couple of monsters that are annoying the villagers and they need to be hunted! Think of this game as a huge hunt fest!
Furthermore, If you've played Monster Hunter X on the Nintendo 3DS then there is no doubt that you'll know how everything works since Monster Hunter XX is nothing more than an enhanced version of the previous one.
So, are you still wondering if you can play Monster Hunter XX without knowing Japanese? Or are you asking yourself, ''Where can I buy it?'' I can't help with that though, I was lucky to find it for sale in a shop nearby! But I'm sure you can get it on Amazon or even eBay.
Now, I can only wish you good luck and happy hunting for when you get the game!
