DATA TRANSFER?

With the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, my Amiibo collection has now double in size and I've been having a ton of fun training every single one of them. However, one question has been on my mind. Can I still use my Amiibos from Super Smash Bros. 4 in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? And if yes, will they retain their level?

I only have two Amiibos at level 50 in Super Smash Bros. 4 and I chose Yarn Yoshi to be my test subject since it's my favorite and also the cutest.

With my Yarn Yoshi in hand, I turned the game on, went to Games & More, selected the Amiibo option and followed the screen instructions.

After scanning my Amiibo a text appeared asking if I wanted to carry some of the data written on the Amiibo from the previous game or if I wanted to start from scratch... This had me worried since it said it would only carry some of the data...

And then the next screen killed me... It takes a while to get and Amiibo to level 50 so it's a bit disheartening seeing that only 12 of those levels carry over. Also, the new data that will be written on this Amiibo won't be compatible with the previous title, which means that I'd be stuck using this Yarn Yoshi only on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

I gave it some thought for a couple of minutes and eventually decided to carry over the existing data since I only have Super Smash Bros. 4 on the Nintendo 3DS and I barely touch it these days. This kind of reminds me of when I got Pokémon Pearl and decided to transfer some of my high-level pokémon from Pokémon Ruby to it. Still, to this day I regret doing it, but that's a story for another time!

So, can I still use my Amiibos from Super Smash Bros. 4 in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Yes, but at the cost of not being able to use it again on the previous title and only carrying over some of the levels.
